The estimated total value of durian globally is approximately 1,411 million USD, an increase of 73% from last year. China is still the No.1 market with China-Thailand’s FTA as a supporting factor. Without import tax from Thailand, this results in better competition for Thai suppliers.
“Farmers and entrepreneurs” should focus on maintaining product standards and improving production quality from cultivation to packing by avoiding using chemicals for growing customers’ demand of organic fruits. Online channels should be used to approach more customers in marketing Thai durian in order to make Thailand a sustainable champion in the market,” said Ms. Armon.
