Black Thorn (D200)

Black Thorn, also known as O Shei, varies a lot in terms of size, but can be recognized by it is perfectly plump pumpkin shape and squat little stem, about as long as a thumb. The bottom has a little belly-button indent that protects the durian’s dried up flower stamen from breaking off as it grows, creating a blackened “thorn” that protrudes and gives the durian its name.

Characteristics

The color of the flesh ranges from yellow to dark orange to golden-orange. Tiny black thorn sprouting out at the fruit’s bottom (not a distinctive feature as it can easily fall off). The taste of the durian is creamy with a slight hint of bitter and an alcoholic aftertaste. A small star design at the bottom (similar to Musang king).
